Update (12:55 post meridiem ET): Akamai appears to have fixed the trouble, and services including Steamer are either back online Beaver State headed that path. Akamai said it will persist in to monitor the situation to ensure that nothing falls out of site, but for right away Steam appears to exist amply back to normal.

As you whitethorn have already noticed, Steamer is down: The Unofficial Steam Status site indicates that all but services, including the memory boar and biotic community, are currently unavailable.

The soundly newsworthiness, such as it is, is that IT's not just Steam. The outage is apparently the result of problems at Akamai's Edge DNS Services, which is currently agony an "emerging issue" that's also impacting other services. GamesRadar has reported that the PlayStation Network is also down, for instance, and Epic poem is having trouble as well, although right now IT's slow just hush up seems to be accessible.

There's no word more or less the problem from Valve at this point, but it's really out of Valve's hands: According to The Verge, other services including banks, brokerages, and peradventure even some 911 services were also been wedged by the outage.  Akamai said it's on the job on the egress and will post regular position updates.

We'll watch things and let you eff when it's back.
